Welcome to Therapy with harry: Mental Health for Asian Canadians

Welcome to Harry Au Therapy. I started this blog with the vision to raise mental health awareness for 1.5 and second generation Asian Canadians. This blog is written with you in mind.

Since you have taken the time to visit here, I want to share with you a bit about myself. There is also more information in the About section. My name is Harry Au, a social worker and therapist. Part of that is starting this blog to share knowledge around mental health, wellness, and recovery. The following are some topics my blogs will discuss:

1. Anxiety and Overthinking

2. Depression and Emotional Numbness

3. Immigrant Family Dynamics

4. Relationships and Attachment

5. Starting Therapy in Ontario

6. Therapy for Asian Canadians

7. Therapy for Men

8. Trauma and Childhood Experiences

Being part of the Asian diaspora is beautiful and challenging. And it can also be confusing, straddling multiple cultures and obligations. Many of us weren’t taught to understand ourselves, to know how we are feeling, and how to manage these feelings. The goals for my blogs will help you navigate these topics by:

1. Sharing insights on mental health struggles within the context of Asian Canadians

2. Providing strategies for identifying and working through mental health challenges

3. Sharing my expertise, and how I can help you as your therapist

We can all benefit from building better, healthier mental health and wellness. I look forward to your visits.

Hi, I’m Harry, a psychotherapist in Toronto. I work with 1.5 and second generation Asian Canadians who are navigating trauma, identity, and the emotional patterns shaped by family and culture. You can learn more about my work on my website.
